Suburb focus on Weltevreden Park

The established suburb of Weltevreden Park in Roodepoort is conveniently located and attracts buyers from all walks of life.

About the area

For many people living in Johannesburg, traffic is often a problem, and many people try to find the right balance between convenience and a place to call home. The established suburb of Weltevreden Park in Roodepoort is conveniently located and attracts buyers from all walks of life.

Elma Kloppers, award-winning journalist and content editor for the Beeld newspaper, and her husband have lived in Weltevreden Park Ext 45 for 25 years. “This part of the suburb is sandwiched between Hendrik Potgieter and Constantia Drive at the bottom of a mountain and very conveniently located.”

She says that when they moved into the suburb, they loved the rural setting with bushveld surrounds close to the city. Over the past two decades, new housing developments including some high-density projects, have mushroomed in the area.

“Our home is on a large stand in a dead-end road hence it is not that busy, and from here Lanseria International Airport is not very far away.”

Although Hendrik Potgieter Road can be a traffic nightmare during peak hours, Elma has found a way to miss the rush hour traffic while her husband, who works in Pretoria, drives daily to Rosebank to catch the Gautrain to Hatfield in order to beat the N1 peak traffic.

Weltevreden Park offers a variety of accommodation to suit every budget, and homes in the area have experienced good price growth over the years with demand increasing.

At the weekend, the couple love visiting the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden: an award-winning, popular nature reserve and venue in the West Rand. The garden home to a breeding pair of Verreaux’s eagles which Elma and her husband sometimes see soaring above their house.

Our suburb is still leafy with great escape amenities within easy reach, what’s more, we also have a pair of spotted eagle eared owls that frequent our garden, and numerous other birds
