Choprop Ignites Empowerment and Transformation in SA

It’s no secret that the Real Estate Industry is severely lacking transformation in South Africa. Whilst the stakeholders in government and the official body of the Estate Agent Affairs Board certainly contain representation and have undergone transformation, many companies that operate in the space still have not. It’s plain to see that there is a lack colour amongst property professionals in South Africa.

“Project Thola Umsebenzi”

“We are trying to bring the opportunities to their doorstep,” says Shole-Mashao, the host of Tshwane TV’s ‘Making Money with Thabo’. Choprop is a proud member of “Project Thola Umsebenzi” which directly translated from isiZulu means ‘get a job’. This initiative aims to create at least 200 000 new jobs this year and hosts large scale public events in townships across South Africa, with the view and aim of providing employment to the people at grassroots level, to date, the project has been featured in Soweto, Mamelodi and Soshanguve. The intention of the project is to create employment and promote entrepreneurship. This roadshow will continue throughout the rest of SA. The most recent event was held at Soshanguve and was attend by approximately 3000 people which included woman, youth and disabled individuals. Choprop is proud to have sponsored 120 individuals to venture into the Real Estate field by offering attendees fully sponsored access to their Real Estate Academy of Training program entitled Introduction to Real Estate. This course is held over a 4 day period and teaches new entrants the basics of the real estate business. It is the company’s flagship course which is hosted with the purpose of accelerating empowerment and transformation in the real estate sector.

Transformation Event

On the 24th of June 2015, Choprop hosted an event at their Centurion offices with IEASA North, in partnership with Jacques van der Merwe Maja Inc, ABSA & ExporIT, this event highlighted information pertaining to transformation in the Real Estate Industry. The EAAB’s Technical Legal Analyst Advocate Jan Tladi delivered an inspiring message and he mentioned that there are currently 45,000 Estate Agents in South Africa, of which only 10% are black individuals. He also spoke about the “TEAP” concept. Which stands for Transformation, Empowerment, Alignment and Professionalism within the EAAB. Advocate Tladi commended Yusuf Essa the CEO of Choprop for the companies drive in this regard.

Breakfast Network with Rams (BNR)

Metro FM’s celebrity talk show host Rams, co-hosted BNR with Choprop the morning of 25 June 2015. The event was a great success. Professionals attended this session and showed amazing interest in the real estate business and property investment too.

Yusuf Essa says, “It warms my heart to see that there are so many individuals that are keen to be involved in the property industry and share the same interest and passion. We are encouraging people from all walks of life to get involved in this business. Becoming a property professional is now more than ever before becoming a reality for people. Facilitation of this process is high on our agenda.”
